Au printemps 2019 je me suis retrouvé dans le Loiret pour une longue mission d’interprétariat (trois semaines en tout) dans une usine de fabrication de produits de bois. Une mission technique, où je faisais l’interface entre des ouvriers français et des ingénieurs étrangers pour l’ajustement et le fonctionnement d’une nouvelle presse, une machine pesant plusieurs tonnes et valant plusieurs millions d’euros. Alors mon habillement d’interprète consistait cette fois-ci en des vêtements de travail, un casque sur la tête, un gilet réflecteur sur le dos et des chaussures cap d’acier sur les pieds. Ce n’était pas l’élégance vestimentaire coutumière des salles de conseils d’administration, mais c’était pratique (même obligatoire) dans les ateliers.
L’usine est située à quatre kilomètres au sud de Sully-sur-Loire et moi, j’étais logé dans une chambre dans le village de Villemurlin, situé un autre six kilomètres plus loin. Je n’ai pas de voiture alors j’ai mis ma valise sur le porte-bagage de mon vélo, j’ai pédalé jusqu’à la gare de Bercy à Paris, je suis descendu du train à la gare de Gien et j’ai complété le trajet (un autre 40 kilomètres, tout de même) sur les bords de la Loire et jusqu’à Villemurlin. Autrefois ce village était desservi par le train mais la gare a été fermée et cette petite ligne SNCF supprimée. C’est à l’image de tous les services publics en milieu rural, une véritable descente aux enfers pour la France oubliée, singulièrement accélérée sous la présidence d’Emmanuel Macron.
Puisque cette mission durait pendant des semaines, je préférais disposer d’un véhicule sur place. Après le travail je me rendais à Sully-sur-Loire pour acheter le journal, faire quelques petites courses et manger dans un restaurant avant de retourner dans ma chambre à Villemurlin. Le tout au pays de Sologne, près du Val de Loire, un beau coin de la région Centre. En plus de passer neuf heures par jour dans l’usine (huit heures de travail et une heure de pause déjeuner), cela fait en plus une vingtaine de kilomètres en vélo par jour. Mais j’aime bien faire du vélo, surtout que c’était le printemps et il faisait un temps idéal (pas trop froid, ni trop chaud). Sinon, je dépendrais de taxis, onéreux compte tenu des distances et peu nombreux dans cette zone peu peuplée, loin de grandes agglomérations. J’aurais pu louer une voiture pour la durée de la mission mais encore une fois cela représente une dépense non négligeable et de toute façon, le vélo, ça me va très bien. Interprétariat et cyclotourisme, c’est une combinaison gagnante.
Le premier jour de ma mission je suis parti du village à 7h15 parce que ma journée de travail commençait à 8 heures. Malgré le beau temps, vers 7h30 le matin le soleil est encore assez bas dans le ciel et je pédalais vers l’est. Ainsi, les automobilistes derrière moi étaient partiellement aveuglés par le soleil sur certains tronçons de la route, même si j’avais mes phares de vélo allumées et même si je portais un gilet jaune réflecteur. Quand j’entendais un véhicule derrière moi je me mettais sur le bas côté, au cas où. Parfois il n’y avait pas de gravier alors je pédalais carrément sur l’herbe. C’était un peu galère mais j’étais plus en sécurité ainsi. Je voulais arriver au travail à l’heure et surtout, vivant.
